Well actually this is pretty damned cool, cuz the attitude here is that there are actually over sixteen thousand founders. Those that signed a patition early on, and paid five bucks. That is what got the ball rolling on building this university in the north. So, these guys were the first of a few Board Chairs of original committee's that got thing going. Or something like that. Pretty cool anyway that the credit is not given over to a few, when the whole system, and local people get the credit for it all. Nice. Of course the mandate was to not look to official, and show some of the campus in the background. That was about it.
Hey, what can I say. I love shooting this girl. She is fun and besides, likes having her picture taken. So, hey, why not aye. I don't tire of it, and so far, Margo seems good with it. Up for any idea I might have. Actually nice to have someone so open and co'operative, ready to go anytime and up for pretty much anything. She does not like all that I do, but whatever, that is fine, as when I do this stuff it really is about me anyway. I shoot for what I want and what my vision of the moment is. When I get paid to do a job, well then guess it is more about what the clients vision is. Well sometimes, as I usually whine til I get my way there as well.
The funny thing is Margo is also a client of mine, yup, I work for her on jobs, so it is interesting when it gets to be my turn.
Thanks Margo for being there.
Well, ok, so secret I am putting here. A project I am working on but cannot give any details not really. So, just wanted to post a few here for when I am starting on it again and looking for recruits. I am still not really where i want to be with it, but am getting close, I think. Not sure, will see how and what follows.
But sure need to thank Margo and Paula for being such good sports about all this. I will be more organized next time I promise.
Yeah, I know this is not hollywood, but it is what I do. I love shooting institutional stuff, I like that I am usually in some sort of charge, though Margo and I do have some fun in that regard, taking turns. At least at the ubco stuff. I just like the good vibes and fun that most of the people are having. Yeah, a great way to make a living is sure. It is just what I do is all.
I liked the Library shot here, the long aisle of books, the idea I think was to show we had one of those here. I think most of the shots in this grouping are going to be used on Donor brochures and such things as that. At least that is who the job was for anyway.
Wanting also to show working enviroment, hence the long rows of computers, and a quite place to be if you needed it.
Kelowna just got a new Med School here, these guys are doing a thanks for donations to the entire campus or wherever the money goes. All med students at this facility. Pretty co operative bunch even though they all had places to be and to go. Study and eat lunch I think. The shot was taken in the new facility on campus.
This lady at UBCO, just a ton of money to further her research here, and is being acknowleged for it. She is doing amazing stuff, and all right here in Kelowna. Her hair is abit blowy, but it is outside after all, and like how the building came out in the background with that knarly tree in there. No symbolism or anything corny like that, just liked it. Lit in open shade. These new digitals are awesome even on auto white balance. Find myself there most the time.
Pretty funny here actually, I was really fighting with this one, the room was like tiny, very tiny, and I was having a hell of a time with the lights. A few flashes arranged around. A real struggle as one would not work right, get it working the next one would not work, all wireless nikon genius, true genius when it works, but living hell when it decides to get a mind of its own. Was ready to settle for something that just was not that good, then re'aimed one light, after lowering a setting and whammo, there it was. Glad these guys were not in a hurry as is usually the case. Brainiacks, they can make you do weird things as they know what parts of the brain do what. And boy do they love what they are going. Awesome.
These girls are really amazing, I mean to just be a nurse in the first place is abit of angel. We had fun doing this, had about half an hour I guess to get it done. Two lights here, wanted it nice and bright looking. I know the shots are all sort of posey looking but they are, we are trying to re'create what might really happen without the time to wait for it to happen. Makes sense when you think about it.
These posts I really wanted to get up. I have a buddy who is not feeling real well these days, and he just might need a few minutes of reading. I know he will kick my ass on a few of the shots no doubt. But I am not worried, he does not scare me.
Anyway, ol'buddy, hope you enjoy when you get here.
Work again, been awhile..a few months recoup time awaiting busted leg to heal. Sucks, seems to take forever.
I got the call to go back north to the university, scene of the wreck sort of. Is awesome to think that I was pretty much able to pick up where I left off, but for a few jobs. So, this was a week or so of pretty much flat-out stuff.
One of the first assignments, was to take shots of this guy. A hitch however. He is research dude, Alumni obviously, but his roaming grounds are the Arctic, a university up there, so I was told to make it look like the arctic. Hey, no problem, it is PG after all.
You will see the chain through-out most the assignments, light on information, and definitely on time, though I requested to book an hour for each shoot, I got that mostly, but just seems to never be enough.
Also, most of this project was destined for the web. A complete redesign for the University website. We have been shooting one way for over twenty years, vertical mostly, now the revamp is mostly horizontal. Awesome for me, as pretty much everything needs redoing.
